ASK!

You know we are told to ask.

That’s what Jesus said. He said we are to ask the Father, in his name. AND it shall be given to us so that our joy may be FULL.

John 16:23-24 (NKJV)

“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Why is that important?

Yesterday morning I was cleaning the house with the girls.

Ava was holding a sand dollar that she had just found at the sand pit with Jason and his dad last week, and I heard something fall on the floor and break and I instantly knew it was THAT sand dollar.

My back was turned to her as I was washing dishes, but I knew from the sound and her fragile gasp, that it was the sand dollar.

And before I could turn around to see her face, I said don’t worry Ava, God has another one for you.

And when I turned from the sink to look at her, her little eyes were full of tears.

It was so special to her.

And so I went to hug her and just reassure her that God has another one for her, she just simply has to ask.

But she wouldn’t not agree with me.

She was devastated.

It was truly tragic for her.

And so I calmed her down and I said hey, God has made millions of those and He has another one for you. (while praying in my head, God please give this girl another sand dollar.)

So I said Ava, repeat this after me: Thank you God that you have another sand dollar for me.

And even though she didn't want to repeat it, she did and she confessed it before the Lord.

And guess what?!! He did!

My father in law came over for dinner tonight.

I told him what happened yesterday and asked him to please be on the look out for sand dollars at the pit for Ava.

I was standing at the sink and he was close by and out of the corner of my eye I saw him reach in his shirt pocket and pull out a sand dollar that he had just found today.

James 4:2b (NKJV)

Yet you do not have because you do not ask.

I would’ve never know he had one in his pocket had I not ASKED.

And God had already provided the thing me and Ava were believing for but I still had to ask.

Sometimes the thing we need is right in front of us, hidden from plain view.

It's our job to ask in FAITH.

It's God's job to perform His WORD.

Ask.

It brought so much joy to Ava tonight when my father in law gave her that sand dollar.

God is so good.

He's a giver of good gifts and answered prayers.

We can ask God the Father anything according to his will in Jesus’ name and it shall be given so that our joy will be full.

He loves us so much.
